After the first five matchdays of the 2nd Bundesliga, the first contours can be seen in the table. While Hamburger SV, with 15 points in a crisp white vest and threatening to outrun the competition early on, and Hannover 96, two teams that were already considered to be hot prospects for promotion before the season, are among the top three, the newcomers Eintracht Braunschweig and Würzburger Kickers prove the last two places.
Of course, every team with a series, whether positive or negative, can quickly move to other regions of the table. In the last international break of the year in mid-November, however, an interim balance can be drawn. Until then, the 18 clubs will have six points each in two match days. The Hamburg city derby is once again the biggest highlight that the 2nd Bundesliga has to offer this year. HSV, who lost both derbies to their little neighbours in the past season, will certainly be the favourites and would like to extend their so far very sovereign lead in the table, while FC St. Pauli is one of the large group of teams with six points so far, who still don’t quite know where they are going this season.
Last weekend, in the 3-1 win against Würzburger Kickers after a long 0-1 deficit compared to the previous season, in which the game would presumably have been lost, HSV showed itself to have matured significantly. Thanks in particular to the new striker Simon Terodde, the Hanseatic League was able to turn the match around and take three more points on the hoped-for way back into the Bundesliga. As in the 4: 3 win at SC Paderborn on the second matchday, when the East Westphalia conceded three goals within four minutes, but still retained the upper hand in the end.
FC St. Pauli has shown morale twice in a row and scored points against both 1. FC Nürnberg and SV Darmstadt 98 (both 2: 2) after arrears. In order not to have to look back at the front like last year, the Kiez kickers need more consistency over 90 minutes and a more stable defence than before. Only HSV (13) scored more goals than St. Pauli (10), but at the same time, only the newcomers from Braunschweig (10) and Würzburg (11) allowed more goals than the Brown-Whites (9 ). Finding the right balance and maintaining it throughout the entire season is a task that St. Pauli has to master.
That can also succeed but tends to be more against the other 16-second division clubs than against HSV. The derby victories of the past season give the underdog hope, but we believe that HSV will grab the points this time.

Eintracht Braunschweig vs 1. FC Nurnberg Soccer Betting Tips
So far, Eintracht Braunschweig has not been able to confirm the furious start with the 5-4 victory in the DFB Cup against Hertha BSC in everyday life in the 2nd Bundesliga. The Lower Saxony won only four points on the first five matchdays, which revealed some problems. Especially in the offensive game, Martin Kobylanski and Co. have only scored three goals so far. Before the game against Nürnberg, however, there is hope that things have been much better at home than away. Coach Daniel Meyer’s team scored all four points in difficult home games against Holstein Kiel (0: 0) and VfL Bochum (2: 1), while away from home they were clearly lost at SSV Jahn Regensburg (0: 3).
Four points from the first two games at Jahn Regensburg (1: 1) and against SV Sandhausen raised hopes for a better season than the previous one, at the end of which a late goal in the relegation against FC Ingolstadt caused the fall in the third class has prevented. A 2: 3 home defeat against SV Darmstadt 98 as well as a draw at FC St. Pauli (2: 2) and against Karlsruher SC (1: 1) later, doubts that the FCN, as predicted by quite a few experts, are even could be able to get involved in the front third, but it has grown noticeably again. After seven games without a win across the seasons, SpVgg Greuther Fürth clinched an equally important and well-deserved 3-1 win at Holstein Kiel last weekend. The cloverleaf, which had already delivered a strong performance against Hamburger SV, but was unable to reward itself in the 1-0 defeat against the leaders, now wants to go up and finally win again at home – Fürth won the last time in its own stadium on February 29, 2020, 2-0 against VfB Stuttgart.
The fact that Hannover 96 is a team that has taken all nine points at home should not be a disadvantage for Fürth.
