Sans Frontieres has been given the go-ahead to take part in the Melbourne Cup in November.

Trainer Jeremy Noseda has given the progressive colt the green light top travel Down Under, saying the four-year-old is the ‘ideal candidate’.

The son of Galileo landed the Irish St Leger last time out but Noseda warned that a 2kg penalty for that win could make connections think again.

However, he confirmed: “We decided this morning that Sans Frontieres will be prepared for the Melbourne Cup and will go into quarantine this afternoon.

“Along with Sir Robert and his racing manager Barry Simpson we discussed all the options and have decided to go for it.

“We believe that he is an ideal candidate for the race and we are looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
