Huddersfield manager Lee Clark has ruled himself out of the Newcastle job.
Newcastle is Clark’s boyhood club and he went on to make 265 appearances in two spells with the Magpies.
The former midfielder, 38, has been linked with the St James’ Park hot-seat after Chris Hughton was sacked by Newcastle on Monday afternoon.
But Clark insists he has no intention in leaving Huddersfield, who he is hoping to steer out of League One.
“If there is speculation, it is not of my making,” he told the Examiner.
“I’m fully committed to my job here.”
Roeder role
Clark was Newcastle’s first team and reserve-team manager under Glenn Roeder between June 2006 and November 2007.
He then followed Roeder to Norwich, where he was assistant manager until December 2008, when he left to take charge of Huddersfield.
The Magpies’ current reserve-team boss, Peter Beardsley, has been placed in temporary charge until a permanent successor is named.
Former Aston Villa and Celtic manager Martin O’Neill and ex-West Ham and Southampton boss Alan Pardew have been strongly linked with the job.
