The Football Federation of Ukraine will announce a permanent national team coach on April 21, it has been confirmed.

President Gregory Sukris told local media in Kiev that a permanent tactician will be in place in three weeks, but failed to reveal who is likely to fulfill the role. There have been a hoard of names linked with the post across the press, including former Italy coach Marcello Lippi.

Current interim coach Yuriy Kalitvintsev is also likely to be considered for the long-term role, with Sukris claiming the 2-0 friendly loss to Italy would not influence any board decision.

“I don’t think the result will have led to the board looking at different decisions,” he is quoted as saying by football.ua.

Ukraine are still seeking a full-time replacement following the resignation of Myron Markevych in August, but have time on their hands as they have already qualified for the Euro 2012 finals as co-hosts.
