Schalke have injury concerns over Christoph Metzelder, Mario Gavranovic and Peer Kluge ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first leg clash with Inter at San Siro on Tuesday.
Defender Metzelder has a broken nose, but could combat the facial injury by wearing a facemask and stands a good chance of playing against the Nerazzurri.
Swiss striker Gavranovic looks less likely to feature in the game as he has an ankle injury, and will face a fitness test closer to the game.
Meanwhile, Kluge picked up an abdominal strain.
All three were injured during Schalke’s league match against St. Pauli, which was abandoned after an official was hit by a beer cup thrown from the crowd.
Coach Ralf Rangnick replaced Felix Magath two weeks ago; despite the German club’s poor league position, they have defied expectations in the Champions League, ousting Valencia in the last 16.
