Barcelona right back Dani Alves has been linked with a move to Manchester City once again as talks on a new contract have reportedly failed.

Goal.com UK exclusively revealed in February that City were monitoring the Brazilian, and it now seems that contract talks with the Nou Camp club have failed, making a move more likely.

The Brazil international has been on City’s radar since Yaya Toure was signed from Barcelona last summer and says he would consider a switch to the Premier League.

Chelsea have not renewed their interest in the player after David Luiz joined the Stamford Bridge club from Benfica in January.

Toure enjoys a £220,000-a-week deal and Alves has been in talks to land the same type of contract with the Spanish giants, according to News of the World.

Roberto Mancini is said to be cautious as they would think twice before recruiting the player who apparently is using a move to the Eastlands as a pawn in his game.

Alves said: “I don’t feel Barcelona have been doing their utmost to renew my contract.

“What I want is for them to value me depending on my importance and influence within the squad. If they do that, I’ll be over the moon.

“If not, thanks for these years at the club.”

The 27-year-old moved to Camp Nou from Sevilla in 2008 but his contract does not expire until next year.

Barcelona have settled new contract deals with most of the first team over the past year with the exception of Alves’.
