Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says Fernando Torres will start scoring for Chelsea, but hopes that the goals will not start flowing until after the two sides two-legged quarter-final in the Champions League.
After moving to Stamford Bridge in a £50 million deal from Liverpool in January, Torres has failed to find the net in seven appearances.
He previously scored a staggering 65 goals in 102 games for the Merseyside club and Ferguson believes it is only a matter of time before the Spaniard strikes for Chelsea.
He told reporters: “Torres will start scoring. I just hope he waits a little bit, at least until after the tie against us.
“When Chelsea signed him, everyone said what a great signing he was, and rightly so.
“Now everyone says that it was a mistake. Can people be more ridiculous? He needs time to adapt.”
United haven’t won at Chelsea since 2002 and Ferguson thinks recent decisions have gone against his side at Stamford Bridge.
“Last year they beat us with an offside goal, while a month ago David Luiz should have been sent off,” Ferguson continued.
“But then again, anyone who wins has a little bit of luck.
“I hope in the Champions League the wind will turn our way.
“Between us and Chelsea, there is no difference.
“It’s two teams with plenty of champions, great experience and winning coaches. The small details will define the tie.”
